Study on photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue by BiOBr under visible light

Abstract: This paper studied the photocatalytic degradation of the methylene blue (MB) by BiOBr under visible light. The influence factors, such as pH, amount of catalysts and the concentrations of reaction solution were investigated so as to check the performance of the process and understand the mechanism of degradation of MB. The inhibition of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the reaction system was determined by adding various radical scavengers. Above results help to deduce photodegradation mechanism of MB catalyzed by BiOBr and the mainly active oxygen species in the reaction system.
