海上丝绸之路对于沿线贸易和文化交流的重要性过去从未被削弱, 未来几年也不会被削弱. 中印关系的牢固联系主要是建立在贸易基础上. 海上丝绸之路是登陆中国古代港口广州、上海、定海、泉州等地的外国商人的普遍选择. 中国文明对印度文化产生了深远影响, 饮用茶是最好的例子. 印度文明也通过佛教对中国的宗教和文化思想产生了影响(僧侣通过海上航线与印度商人游历). 许多历史学家已经阐明了这两个文明之间的交流, 但他们大多都忽略了海上路线, 特别是这对彼此的文化究竟产生了怎样的影响. 因此, 对该主题进行研究变得越来越重要. 许多历史学家将唐朝确定为中国历史上的黄金时期, 这是本文选择该时期进行研究的主要原因. 本文试图阐明海上丝绸之路的两个伟大文明的文化交流. 他们的海上旅行者不仅交换商品, 而且还交流自己的传统和文化. 此外, 本文还分析了唐代的陶器和海图, 期望准确地说明海上路线对于与印度文明进行交流的重要性.
