Abstract: This paper gave a review and survey of the development of hyperspectral remote sensing technology, the applications of the technolgy in atmospheric environment, features of urban surface and environmental analysis，ocean and inland water environment measurements，vegetation and ecology researches, geologic mine investigations，accidents of environmental hazard. The achievements of Chinese researchers in these areas were also presented. The problems and difficulties in the applications which need further study were pointed out.
